The Navy layers named composites over the AFQT. Active-duty enlistment requires an AFQT of 31; many high-tech ratings (Nuclear, AECF, Cryptologic Technician) require substantially higher line scores. Note that Navy rating entry standards are published as explicit subtest sums per rating (for example AR+MK+EI+GS for Electronics Technician), not as composite codes — the codes below are the DoD-published composites the Navy computes, and the per-rating minimums on this site are quoted in the subtest form the Navy actually uses. VE is a weighted verbal composite derived from Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension, not a plain WK+PC sum. Coast Guard reservist transfers and Navy Reserve programs may have different floors.
