The Army publishes a fixed catalog of ten named line-score composites, and each MOS lists one or more of those codes with a minimum — so an Army requirement is a code plus a number rather than a subtest sum. The DoD ASVAB program publishes the same catalog for the Army.

The ASVAB has no pass/fail mark — the AFQT is a 1–99 percentile, and each branch sets its own floor. Yes, but the bar is higher. Tier-2 applicants (GED or an alternative credential rather than a high-school diploma) need AFQT 50 for the United States Army, versus 31 for tier-1 — a 19-point gap.
