Calculator hub

Line-score calculators — by branch.

AFQT is the first gate. Line scores are the extra weighted composites many jobs require. Pick the branch you're targeting; every formula on this site cites its branch source.

ASVAB line scores are branch-specific composites layered on top of AFQT. Army uses 10, Navy 9, Marines 4, and Air Force and Space Force use MAGE. The Coast Guard is the exception: it publishes no named composites at all — each rating lists its own combination of subtest scores. Each MOS, AFSC, or rate can require one or more composite minimums. As of 2026-08-08, every formula here cites its branch source.

U.S. United States Army

Army · 10 composites

The Army publishes a fixed catalog of ten named line-score composites, and each MOS lists one or more of those codes with a minimum — so an Army requirement is a code plus a number rather than a subtest sum. The DoD ASVAB program publishes the same catalog for the Army.

U.S. United States Marine Corps

Marines · 4 composites

The Marine Corps publishes a fixed catalog of four named composites — GT, EL, MM and CL — in MCO 1230.5C, and each MOS lists one of those codes with a minimum.

U.S. United States Air Force

Air Force · 4 composites

The Air Force publishes four named composites, the MAGE letters — Mechanical, Administrative, General and Electronic — and each AFSC lists one or more of those letters with a minimum.

U.S. United States Space Force

Space Force · 4 composites

The Space Force uses the Air Force's MAGE composites — Mechanical, Administrative, General and Electronic — because both services test and classify through the Department of the Air Force. Each specialty lists one or more of those letters with a minimum.

U.S. United States Coast Guard

Coast Guard · 7 composites

The Coast Guard publishes no named line-score composites. Where the Army names a GT and the Navy a BEE, COMDTINST M1500.10C says Coast Guard members "must attain specific scores on two or more of the ten tests" and that "these individual test scores, in various combinations, are called composite scores and are listed in Enclosure (3) for each rating" — so a Coast Guard requirement is a subtest sum attached to one rating, not a branch-wide code. The rows below are every distinct sum published in that enclosure, with the ratings and minimums that use each one. Two limits worth knowing: Enclosure (3) of COMDTINST M1500.10C (August 2017, Change 3) is the last publicly published version of this table, and COMDTINST 1500.10D routes current Class "A" School requirements to an internal Coast Guard listing that is not published — so confirm a specific rating with a Coast Guard recruiter before acting on it.
